Yatzy is a dice game popular all over the world. The game combines elements of luck and strategy, making it fun for players of all ages. In this article, we will take a detailed look at the rules of Yatzy to help you master the game faster.
In our game, you simultaneously roll dice online with another player, collecting the most profitable combinations.
Purpose of the game
The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible by completing the combinations indicated on the game sheet. Each player makes 13 moves per round, recording the results in one of the categories after each roll. The player who scores the most points per round wins.
Progress of the game
Players roll dice and try to collect the largest combinations. One turn consists of three throws. The rules of the move are as follows:
1. First roll: The player rolls all five dice.
2. Re-roll (re-roll): the player can choose any number of dice to leave as they are and re-roll others (or all dice). A reroll can be made twice per turn.
3. Recording the result: after the third throw (or earlier if the player decides to stop), the player records the result in one of the free categories on his game sheet. At the end of the rolls, the player must choose one of the categories; a category cannot be skipped.
Post categories
The game sheet is divided into two sections: left and right.
Left section
In the left section, you need to record the amounts of points rolled on specific dice:
- Ones: Sum of all units.
- Twos: The sum of all twos.
- Threes: The sum of all threes.
- Fours: The sum of all fours.
- Fives: The sum of all fives.
- Sixes: The sum of all sixes.
- Left Section Bonus: If the left section score is 63 or more, the player receives a 35 point bonus.
Right section
The lower section includes more complex combinations:
- Three of a Kind: The sum of all dice if three of a kind are rolled.
- Four of a Kind: The sum of all dice if four of a kind are rolled.
- Full House: Three of a kind and two of a kind. Gives 25 points.
- Small Straight: Four consecutive dice (e.g. 1-2-3-4). Gives 30 points.
- Big Straight: Five consecutive dice (e.g. 2-3-4-5-6). Gives 40 points.
- Yatzy: Five identical dice. Gives 50 points.
- Chance: The sum of all dice, without having to make combinations.
Yatzy Bonus
If a player has already recorded a Yatzy and rolls five of the same dice again, they receive an additional 50 point bonus and can use the roll for any other category.
End of the round
The game ends after all players have filled out their sheets (13 entries each). The player with the most points wins.
We wish you good luck and fun games!
